Restaurant Website Design in Maine: What Actually Matters
By Jeremy Lizzotte · June 30, 2026 · 5 min read
A restaurant website has exactly one job: get a hungry person from “where should we eat?” to sitting at your table (or placing a pickup order). Everything else is decoration. Here is what actually matters for a Maine restaurant, café, or brewery site — and what you can safely skip.
1. A menu that is easy to read and easy to update
The menu is the number one thing people come to your site for. It needs to load fast, read cleanly on a phone, and — critically — be simple to update when prices or specials change. A menu trapped in a blurry PDF from 2021 is worse than no menu at all.
2. Mobile-first, always
Nearly everyone deciding where to eat is doing it on their phone, often while standing in a parking lot. If your site is hard to read or slow on mobile, they have already moved on to the next place. The whole thing has to feel effortless on a small screen.
3. Hours, location, and directions front and center
“Are they open?” and “how do I get there?” are the two most common questions. Put your hours and a tap-to-open map right up top. Bonus points for making your phone number a one-tap call button.
4. Photos that make people hungry
A few good photos of your food and your space do more than any paragraph of description. They do not need to be professional-grade — just real, bright, and appetizing.
5. Links to what you already use
If you take reservations or online orders through another service, your website should hand off to it smoothly — a clear “Order Online” or “Reserve a Table” button. Your site does not have to replace those tools; it just has to point to them.
What you can skip
You do not need a fancy animation, a blog, or a ten-page site. A tight, fast site with your menu, hours, location, photos, and ordering links beats an elaborate one every time.
We build restaurant and café sites with all of that baked in for a $300 flat fee, with a mockup you can pull up on your phone before you pay. Tell us about your spot and we will show you what it could look like.
Bottom line: a great restaurant website is simple — menu, mobile, hours, photos, and a clear next step. Nail those and you will turn “I am hungry” into a customer.
